{"id":1655,"date":"2012-11-15T09:59:05","date_gmt":"2012-11-15T09:59:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sethandberkley.com\/?p=1655"},"modified":"2012-11-17T10:27:38","modified_gmt":"2012-11-17T10:27:38","slug":"ko-yao-kayak-adventure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sethandberkley.com\/?p=1655","title":{"rendered":"Ko Yao Kayak Adventure!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today we rose with the sun, as we always do, ate a hearty breakfast, lotioned up, grabbed a kayak, and made our way to see the limestone karsts of Phang Nga Bay that have been calling to us since we arrived at Suntisook Bungalows. \u00a0The tide was pretty low and coming in, so we had to walk it out a bit before being able to hop in. \u00a0It probably took us about an hour to reach our destination, four miles according to google maps.<\/p>\n<p>[mapsmarker marker=&#8221;3&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately the water in Thailand is not crystal clear as in Greece, so we couldn&#8217;t see much below our paddles. \u00a0We investigated around a few of the land structures and happened upon a family of monkeys doin their thang. \u00a0They were crab eating macaques, lounging in the shade of the mangroves. \u00a0One was trying to open a coconut, and when we came near he yelped at us, hugged his coconut, and scurried a bit away. \u00a0Normally we are not big fans of little primates, but these guys were lazy and mildly curious of us in our little, blue kayak.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Thailand_0174.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sethandberkley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Thailand_0174.jpg\" alt=\"Thailand 0174\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Thailand_0177.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sethandberkley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Thailand_0177.jpg\" alt=\"Thailand 0177\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Thailand_0180.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sethandberkley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Thailand_0180.jpg\" alt=\"Thailand 0180\" width=\"500\" height=\"666\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Thailand_0087.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sethandberkley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Thailand_0087.jpg\" alt=\"Thailand 0087\" width=\"500\" height=\"666\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Thailand_0199.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sethandberkley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Thailand_0199.jpg\" alt=\"Thailand 0199\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Thailand_0213.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sethandberkley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Thailand_0213.jpg\" alt=\"Thailand 0213\" width=\"500\" height=\"666\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We spied a tiny beach, but when we arrived we found that so had many tour company boats. \u00a0The little beach, and shallow water surrounding it, was packed with life vest wearing tourists. \u00a0I&#8217;m not sure why someone would go into 5 foot deep water with a life jacket on, but there were at least 20 bobbing fluorescent vests. We did some exploratory laps around the little islands, and Seth climbed a little bit up one so he could jump off. \u00a0Eventually we munched on some lunch of chicken fried rice from our hotel. \u00a0Afterwards, we fed our leftovers, and some munched peanuts to the little school of fish nearby. \u00a0That was colorful fun.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Thailand_0111.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sethandberkley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Thailand_0111.jpg\" alt=\"Thailand 0111\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We decided it was time to head back another four miles. \u00a0We stopped by some more limestone karsts on the way and found some pretty formations and schools of fish hiding beneath. \u00a0Paddling back probably took almost twice as long, but our arms and backs are wrecked. \u00a0That was a lot of paddling, but well worth it!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-style: initial;
