Day 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We woke up bright and early with tea in our tent. \u00a0It was a cold night, but putting Nalgene bottles filled with hot water at the foot of our sleeping bags helped loads. \u00a0Our trek today was about two and a half hours, once again, and it was not too bad. \u00a0Well, it was not too bad for us. \u00a0I don&#8217;t know how these porters do it. \u00a0They are carrying a ton of weight and they carry it all by using a strap that rests on their heads. \u00a0Totally different from anything I have ever tried. \u00a0But, I guess we&#8217;ve seen that many other cultures carry loads on their heads. \u00a0This looks very difficult though and potentially quite painful. \u00a0Seth brought up a good point, that \u00a0perhaps this is why there are many older people hunched over. \u00a0Not sure.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Nepal_3304.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sethandberkley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Nepal_3304.jpg\" alt=\"porter\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Junbesi is a picturesque village in the valley of some beautiful mountains covered in large pine trees. \u00a0A river runs through the center of the valley and is the lifeline for the village. \u00a0They actually have a really interesting solution to drainage. \u00a0They dig ditches and lay flat rocks to cover the ditches, leaving enough space between the rocks to allow the water to drain. \u00a0We visited Junbesi Monastary. \u00a0Though it was empty, it was nice to poke around. \u00a0The monastery was painted in bright colors and had beautiful murals on the walls. \u00a0The art form here is so different from anything we&#8217;ve seen so far. \u00a0It&#8217;s refreshing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Nepal_2038.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sethandberkley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Nepal_2038.jpg\" alt=\"Nepal 2038\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We, then, went to visit the Hillary Secondary School. \u00a0Sir Edmund HIllary, the first to summit Mount Everest, is the namesake of this school. \u00a0Whether he made a donation or not is something I don&#8217;t know. \u00a0It was nice to watch the children play. \u00a0And it&#8217;s absolutely adorable when you say namaste and place your hands together in front of your chest, because most of the time they will return your greeting. \u00a0So cute. \u00a0We spent a while watching them play. \u00a0Seth eventually turned into the main attraction. \u00a0He took a picture of a little boy that no matter how hard I tried I couldn&#8217;t get him to smile. \u00a0He just looked at me like I was a giant ugly bug. \u00a0Then I saw him look at Seth and smile largely. \u00a0It turned out that he liked to have his picture taken. \u00a0Seth was soon mobbed by children who wanted to get their picture taken and then look at them on the viewfinder. \u00a0They soon figured out that you could swipe the screen and scroll through the photos. \u00a0But once two fingers touched the screen the camera didn&#8217;t know what to do and just didn&#8217;t do anything. \u00a0It was fun to watch as Seth was encircled by the small children.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Nepal_2026.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sethandberkley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Nepal_2026.jpg\" alt=\"Nepal 2026\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Nepal_2185.jpg\" src=\"https:\/\/www.sethandberkley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/Nepal_2185.jpg\" alt=\"Nepal 2185\" width=\"450\" height=\"600\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That evening, Seth wasn&#8217;t feeling so well. \u00a0He probably was running a fever, either way he was feeling pretty crappy. \u00a0Hope that remedies itself quickly, because I&#8217;d hate for it to mess up Seth&#8217;s trip.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block;
